PD Dr Christian Growitsch
Director of the Hamburg Institute of International Economics (HWWI)
Christian Growitsch has held the position of managing director of the Hamburg Institute of International Economics (HWWI) since September 2014. Before that he served as a director of applied research and member of the management board of the Institute of Energy Economics at the University of Cologne, where he taught as an adjunct professor [Privatdozent] of economics.

After studying business administration, economics and social sciences in Hamburg and Lüneburg, Mr Growitsch earned his doctorate at the University of Lüneburg. In May 2010 he earned his German post-doc degree [Habilitation] at the University of Halle-Wittenberg. From 2007 to 2010 he was head of the department of energy markets and energy regulation at the Scientific Institute for Infrastructure and Communication Services in Bad Honnef.

His economic research and politico-economic consulting currently focus on empirical industrial organisation.
